Sovereign Joy Community Church...

The History of Sovereign Joy Community Church:

God in His grace and providence has seen fit to bring together a people concerned with His glory above all things. Emilio Ramos and Jason Jesuroga (founding elders) felt the deep call of God to plant a biblical church in Keller, TX. Through a series of events, God led both of these men out to Texas. Beginning with Emilio sensing the call to move from California to Texas and to seek God for vision and future ministry, by faith, Emilio and his wife Trisha moved to the Keller area. Immediately upon their move, Emilio began a small bible study. While meeting in a home and teaching through the book of John, God saw fit to grow the size of Sovereign Joy (then) Bible Study; taking the group from about eight to over fifty in less than a year. Pastor Jason, his wife Christina, and their four children were currently in Maine where Jay was pastoring a church for several years. God saw fit to bring Jay to Sovereign Joy and soon after, the church was planted. All glory and thanks be to God for what he has done in bringing numerous families and brethren together for the work of the ministry. Without giving all of the details of our testimony, constitution, and history (which would take up a book in it of itself) Sovereign Joy has had one sole vision since its infancy. Our desire is that God would be made much of in the world, through Biblically sound preaching, heartfelt worship, and a zealous passion to see the kingdom of God advanced in all the earth through outreach and evangelism.

A Unique Vision:

Sovereign Joy Community Church (SJCC) is comprised of a people

devoted to the Scriptures and committed to live for the glory of God. Where other churches have emphasized church growth, seeker sensitive presentation of the gospel, SJCC desires to strike at something more biblical and historic. You can visit the offical website at www.sovjoy.com.

Sovereign Joy Community Church Statement of Faith

#
The below statement is taken from "Introduction" from SJCC's Statement of Faith

The Benefits and Limitations of a Statement of Faith
Although the Bible is the final authority in matters of faith and practice, a statement of faith can serve as an excellent summary of what we believe the Bible teaches. Many people claim to believe the Bible, yet disagree on vital issues. A statement of faith provides necessary definition. It also serves as a helpful teaching tool by providing a concise summary of biblical truth. We recognize that any statement of faith is a fallible, human attempt to summarize the riches of God's revelation and should therefore be open to further revision in the light of Holy Scripture. The following is a summary of what is taught as Biblical truth at Sovereign Joy Community Church...

The below statement is taken from "Article II: Purpose" from SJCC's Constitution and By-laws

The purpose of this church is to glorify the God of the Scriptures in promoting His worship, evangelizing sinners, and edifying saints. To this end we are committed to proclaiming God's perfect law and His glorious Gospel of Grace in Jesus Christ throughout the world, and to defending the "faith once delivered unto the saints" (Jude 3)...
The below statement is taken from "Article III: Articles of Faith" from our Constitution and By-laws

We hereby adopt the SJCC doctrinal statement of faith as a sufficient expression of our faith. We also believe many of the church’s historic confessions of faith that may attest to the historic Christian faith so long as they accurately follow the Scriptures...

The below statement is taken from "Affirmations & Denials" from Together for the Gospel

We are brothers in Christ united in one great cause – to stand together for the Gospel. We are convinced that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been misrepresented, misunderstood, and marginalized in many churches and among many who claim the name of Christ. Compromise of the Gospel has led to the preaching of false gospels, the seduction of many minds and movements, and the weakening of the church’s Gospel witness.
The below statement is taken from "Nine Marks of a Healthy Church" from IX Marks Ministries

We believe the local church is the focal point of God's plan for displaying his glory to the nations. Our vision is simple: Churches that reflect the character of God. Our mission is to cultivate and encourage churches characterized by these nine marks:

1. Expositional Preaching
2. Biblical Theology
3. Biblical Understanding of the Good News
4. Biblical Understanding of Conversion
5. Biblical Understanding of Evangelism
6. Biblical Understanding of Membership
7. Biblical Church Discipline
8. Promotion of Christian Discipleship and Growth
9. Biblical Understanding of Leadership
